Ep.1 marooning

For the first time in a long time, it's an actual marooning, with everyone jumping off a sailboat. No buffs are assigned beforehand, and after everyone gathers items and paddles to shore, Aaliyah notices a sign on the beach, which tells them one person must go to the other side of the island. Lewis volunteers (it's Exile Island). Later, a helicopter drops a bag with wrapped buffs, dividing the contestants into two (pre-assigned) tribes, Toka and Savu. A second set of instructions has them pick one person per tribe (Kilby, Kristin) to negotiate the division of the items. Then they head to their separate camps.

Ep.1 exile: Lewis

After a full day alone with nothing but a sign saying "Welcome to Exile Island," Lewis notices Probst walking into camp. Lewis learns he won't participate in the IC, and therefore won't be the first boot. Probst tells him he has an opportunity for an idol, though: If he can chop through a 'tick' (thick) pole in the time marked by an hourglass. Lewis makes a valiant effort, but only gets about 2/3 of the way through before time expires. The idol remains unclaimed on the pole.

Ep.1 idol: Rob

After putting heat on Eric for going off along, purportedly looking for idols (he was fishing), Rob decides to go alone and look for idols. Luckily for him, nobody seems to notice. More lucky, he finds a fully-powered idol, good to final 5, with no Beware strings attached.

Ep.1 IC: The Crate Wide Open

Contestants must run through a criss-crossing course, untie planks to create a hole on their side (and not allow the other to get through), Then one person (Aaliyah, Eric) must untie 10 basketballs and them to a person (Patt, Linnea) pushing them into a high overhead tube, eventually knocking over a pail of sawdust (releasing a key). One person (Maggie, Alexis) unlocks a set of crates, which they must then push along a track under a net, then assemble them into a staircase. The tribe then climbs up to a paltform, where two people (Jenna, Kilby; Ana, Cristian) solve a vertical logo puzzle. Results: Toka falls behind on the crate-pushing step, never catches up. They regain some ground on the final puzzle, but not enough.

Ep.3 advantages: Devin, Maggie

Each tribe receives treemail telling them to send one person to visit the other tribe's camp. Devin volunteers for Toka, Carter's Shot in the Dark die is drawn on Savu. On the boat ride over, each receives a note telling them there is an advantage hidden at the other camp (in Savu's well ladle, in a paddle at Toka). They will also have the opportunity to mutiny to that tribe, if they wish. Devin retrieves the note (with Sharonda) at Savu, then heads back to Toka. Carter foolishly starts one-on-one talks with Toka, leaving his bag unattended. Lewis searches it, finds the note, and all of Toka runs off to find the advantage. In the end, it's Maggie and Brady trying to get it, Brady gets it first, but Maggie asks him to give it to her, and he does. Each advantage is an extra vote, good until Final Six. Carter later mutinies to Toka.

Ep.3 RC/IC: Anchor Wat

Maggie, Kilby, Jelly, Mike sit out. Contestants must untie three bags of keys, then crawl through wood chips (twice). Two players (Alexis, Sharonda; Patt, Carter) then use those keys to unlock and remove heavy chains from a crate, releasing a ladder. The tribe then use the ladder to climb a high platform, and use two grappling hooks to lift a heavy bag of coconuts (and a key). Then they must take the key up a high ramp, using a human ladder. Finally, two people (Thien An, Jenna; Kristin, Cristian) must use the key to unlock and solve a hanging anchor puzzle. Winner gets immunity and four egg-laying hens. Results: Toka has a huge head start on the puzzle, but Savu places the first piece, and Savu wins!
