Ep.1 idol clues - Water

Shortly after reaching camp, Shay and Chrissy each find a clue to an idol that is "hidden" in plain sight at Tribal Council, as part of the set decoration. (Sophie and Amy found the corresponding clues at Blood camp.) The idol only has power at the first Tribal Council. When Water gets there, both wait for an opportunity, but Chrissy ends up grabbing the idol after both scramble to get it. She plays it for herself, voiding no votes.

Ep.1 IC: Battering rams

Sam sits out. In pairs, contestants are in a rope cage in the water. Their goal is to climb out of the cage (on their tribe-color net) and grab their tribe flag, while their opponents try to stop them. First person to grab their flag scores a point for their tribe. First ttribe to four points wins fishing gear and comfort items. Results: Rd.1: Jesse, Croc vs. Mark, Khanh - Khan gets flag (B1, R0). Rd.2: NIna, Briana vs. Kate, Sophie - Nina scores! (B2, R0). Rd.3: Chrissy, Shay vs. Amy, Sandra - Shay gets it (B3, R0). Rd.4: KJ, Khanh vs. David, Michelle - Khanh scores again! Water wins! They decide to keep fishing gear, give Blood the comfort items (after JLP offers the option).

Ep.3 RC: Sandbag pile

Michelle, Sandra sit out. One person (Jesse; Khanh/Jordie) must swim out and carry a rope to one of two rafts loaded with sandbags, so the tribe can haul it in to shore (twice). They must then carry the sandbags (20 kg each, 70 total) over and under obstacles, then build a pile, where eventually someone must climb up and release a flare. First tribe to do so wins a trip to the Survivor Storehouse. Red has a lead, never gives it up. They pick David to shop for them, he selects Khanh to join him.

Ep.3 idols: David and Khanh

At the Survivor Storehouse, David learns he has a choice: He can pick three items for himself/his tribe, or he can take two and offer one to his guest (Khanh). He picks the three-item option to pay Water back for booting Briana. In the process he and Khanh notice two idols hanging in plain sight among the items, one for each of them. They can be combined to form a super idol (used after votes are revealed) at any time, or played separately as regular idols. They agree to try to join them at the merge, but David ends up playing his the next day.

Ep.3 IC: Poles, blocks, seesaw

Kate, Jay sit out. Tribes must cross a mudpit, going over and under obstacles, then one person (Mark; Croc) must chop down a pole to make a bridge the tribe must cross. Then another person (Josh; Jordan) must chop down a second pole to make a ramp. Then tribe then crosses a tower, and four people (the men) unwind a chest with a chain wrapped around a pole. Then the tribe must open the chest, remove letter blocks, and balance them on a seesaw to spell two words (BLOOD, WATER). Water works together well on the puzzle, wins.

Ep.5 RC: Sumo at Sea

Alex sits out. As first seen in Palau. In head-to-head matchups, using a padded bag, contestants must try to knock their opponent off the platform and into the water. First tribe to three wins a cheese platter. Results: Rd.1: Mark d. Jesse (B1, R0). Rd.2: Sam d. Sophie (B1, R1). Rd.3: Jordan d. Josh (B1. R2). Rd.4: Jordie d. Ben (B2, R2). Rd.5: Nina d. Ep.5 IC: Endurance Logs

KJ sits out. Each contestant must hold a rope to hold up a log, tied to those of their tribemates. They can drop at any time, but doing so increases the weight their tribemates must bear. Ep.7 RC: Rowing tug-of-war

Held immediately after swap. Amy sits out. Each tribe has an inflatable boat that fits four people. The boats are tied together, and four people at a time must paddle far enough, opposed by the other tribe's paddlers, to grab their tribe flag. First tribe to three points wins a trip to camp from the Survivor hot dog cart. Results: Rd.1: Ben, Croc, Chrissy, Sophie d. Mark, Jordan, Mel, Sandra (B1, R0). Rd.2: Dave, Mark, Jordie, Josh d. Ep.7 idol: Croc (and Chrissy)

Chrissy spies a note tucked into the hot dog cart at the reward, and manages to grab and pocket it undetected. She later shares the clue with Croc, it directs them to a particular tree with a string tied to it in Water camp (which Chrissy knows, but newcomer Croc does not). They go to the location together, Croc ends up with the idol, which he keeps.

Ep.7 IC: Boxes, table maze

Mel sits out. One person must chop through a rope, releasing a cargo net, which the tribe uses to climb a tower. They then cross a series of balance beams, collecting boxes, then climb up a second tower, tossing the boxes off to break them. One of the boxes contains a ball, which they must then maneuver through a giant table maze. First to do so wins. Blue table maze: Croc, Ben, Jesse, Sophie, plus Khanh/Michelle as caller. Red table maze: Jordie, Jordan, Josh, Shay, with Nina as caller. The table maze ends up close, but Water wins.

Ep.9 IC: Dunk pole

David sits out. In head-to-head matchups, contestants must stand on a dock in the water holding a large horizontal pole that slides through a central tower. The goal is to pull the pole out far enough to knock a player from the other tribe off the platform. First tribe to three points wins fish and chips. Results: Rd.1: Mark d. Croc (Jesse knocked in; R1, B0). Rd.2: Chrissy d. Mel (Shay knocked in; R1, B1). Rd.3: Josh d. Ben (KJ knocked in; R2, B1). Rd.4: Jordan d. Croc (Khanh knocked in; R3, B1). Blood wins reward.

Ep.9 IC: Spool stack

Mel sits out. Contestants must use a long pole to grab one of 8 spools, walk through a trip obstacle, then place the spool on a stack at the end. If they bump the trip obstacle, it can knock the stack over, and they have to start again. First to stack all 8 wins. Jordan knocks red's over at 6. Blue/Water then cruises to victory.

Ep.11 IC: Team Spoon Man

Jordan sits out. Team version of F5 IC in San Juan del Sur. Contestants must use a series of spoonlike rods to transfer three balls (one at a time) through a series of mazes, passing off to tribemates in between. If they drop, have to go back to the start of the last maze. First tribe to move all three balls all the way through wins. Ben and Mark each take the first and last mazes. Balls through: R1, B1, R2, B2, R3. Blood wins.

Ep.13 RC: A Bit Tipsy

Held immediately after merge, individual RC. As seen (more or less) in the F5 IC in US Blood vs. Water. Contestants must balance a wobbly table by pulling on a rope, then retrieve and stack 9 wooden blocks, one at a time, to make a (vertical) pyramid puzzle. First to do so wins a cash prize of $60,000 ($5k a month for a year) from Set for Life. Results: Mark, Shay lead for a while, then Shay and Khanh take the lead at 6, as Mark drops his stack. Shay later drops a couple of pieces, and Khanh cruises to victory.

Ep.13 IC: When It Rains

Standard hold-a-bucket-over-your-head challenge, although this version requires contestants to pull up on a bar to waist height, instead of down on a rope. Mechanism involves each contestant holding up 35% of their body weight. Order out: 13. Chrissy, 12. Michelle, 10-tie. Jordie, Khanh, 9. Mark. [10 min.] 8. Mel, 7. Josh. [15 min.] 6. Shay(!), 5. Ep.15 RC: Pairs block stack

Tethered together in random-drawn pairs (Shay/Jordan; KJ/Sam; Mark/Michelle; Jordie/Chrissy; Jesse/Josh; Dave unpaired, bets on Jesse/Josh), contestants must race to retrieve a set of blocks from a rope-crossed cage, then stack them on a wobbly platform. First pair to stack them wins reward: A KFC feast. Results: Jordie/Chrissy and KJ/Sam are close, but the latter's stack partially falls, giving Jordie and Chrissy an easy victory. Rest still have pieces to retrieve. J/C pick Jesse, Mark, and Josh to join them.

Ep.15 IC: Hanging ball track

Contestants must stand on a post, holding two ropes that hold up each end of a wooden track with a ball on it. At regular 10-minute intervals, they must step back to a smaller post, making the task more difficult. If at any point the ball drops, they're out. Order out: 11. Michelle, 10. Sam. [10 min.] 9. Ep.15 idol: Jesse/Sam

Using the clue Jordie found at reward and gave to him, Jesse goes hunting for the idol. He eventually finds it, and as he's celebrating/ reading the clue, Sam walks up on him. She points out he's been gone a long time, so people are suspicious, and offers to bring his idol back to camp under her sarong. He agrees, but does not get it back from her before being voted out.

Ep.17 RC: Paddle Out + obstacles

Contestants must retrieve three ball bags attached to a rope, wrapped along an obstacle course (balance beam, spool, high bar), then open the bags and roll each ball out onto a five-armed ramp, landing them in divots on the end (as in "Paddle Out"). First to do so wins reward: An Isuzu MU-X. Order to paddle: Jordie, Mark (Jordie-1 landed), Sam, David, Chrissy, KJ, Michelle, Josh (Jordie-2, David-1, Mark-1, Jordie-3, David-2, David-3, Jordie-4, David-4, Jordie-5). (Jordan last?) Jordie also wins a trip to a drive-in "movie" (surprise videos from home) with nachos and margaritas. He takes Jordan, Dave, and Michelle with him.

Ep.17 IC: Audio Slave

As seen in Ghost Island. Contestants must hold a pole (that resembles a boom mic) with a statuette on the end, while standing on a narrow perch. At regular intervals, they must move up to the next, narrower, stretch of perch, without dropping the statue. Last to drop out wins. First section (10 min.) 9. KJ, 8. Chrissy, 7. David (~4 min), 6. Michelle, 5. Sam (6 min), 4. Mark. Second section (10 min.) 3. Josh. [40 min, before transition to 4th and final section] 2. Jordie, so 1. Jordan wins!

It's an auction. $500 per contestant, bidding in $20 increments, no sharing of money or food unless JLP says so. Item 1: Meat pie - Chrissy, $100. Item 2: Chicken parm, chips and beer - Jordan, $500. Item 3: Burger - David, $500. Item 4: Covered - Mark/Jordie $500 bids, draw rocks - Mark wins a steak dinner, Jordie wins a white rock. Item 5: Pizza, wine - Shay, $300. Item 6: Covered - Sam, $500 - it's Vegemite toast. Item 7: Covered - KJ, $220 - it's tea (but with a clue, which she hides). Item 8: Letters from home - Shay, $200 - but she gives it up to give everyone else theirs. Auction over.

After buying the (still apparently secret?) advantage clue at the auction, KJ is directed to a spot in camp, and finds it. It allows her to send three people home from one of the next two Tribal Councils. She vows to think about it deeply, in order to maximize its potential. (Spoiler: Mission accomplished.)

Ep.19 IC: Slide, 3-layer puzzle

Contestants must slide down a waterslide, swim to shore, cross obstacles to get to a grappling hook, which they use to snag a puzzle bag. They then use that bag to build a 3-level puzzle, as seen in Kaoh Rong. Order to puzzle: David, Jordie, Josh, Shay, Mark, KJ, Jordan. David first to finish 1st layer. Sam still on grappling hook as Josh completes 2nd layer. Josh wins. Placement: 1. Josh, 2-t. David, Shay; 3-t. Mark, Jordie, Jordan, Chrissy, KJ; 9. Sam.

Ep.21 RC: Splash Back

As seen in Nicaragua. Contestants must lean back over water, holding onto a rope. At regular intervals, they move further down the rope. Last holding on wins reward: An overnight getaway trip to the Survivor spa. Order out: 7. Chrissy (25 min), 6. KJ (28 min.), 5. David (30 min.), 4. Mark (30 min.). Last three cut a deal to take each other, so 3. Josh, 2. Jordie, 1. Shay wins (takes Josh, Jordie).

Ep.21 IC: Obstacles, sandbag, word puzzle

Contestants must race up a net, untie a bag of sandbags, and carry it over a series of obstacles. They must then toss the sandbags into a barrel, lowering it enough to remove puzzle letters, which they must use to solve a five-word phrase (SAFE FROM THE VOTE TONIGHT). Order to puzzle: Chrissy, Mark, Josh, Jordie, David, Shay, KJ. Results: All struggling on puzzle, until Josh gets the answer, quickly solves it.

Ep.23 IC: Always on the Run

Solo version of the challenge first seen in Ghost Island. Contestants must drop a ball into a large, three-layer track, run down steps to retrieve it at the bottom, then run back up to the top and start it over again. At regular intervals, additional balls are added (up to five total), making it harder. If at any time a ball drops off the track, it will break a tile, and the player is out. All reach three-ball stage. Order out: 5. KJ (3 balls), 4. Josh (3 balls), 3. Chrissy (4 balls), 2. Mark (4 balls), 1. Shay wins!
