One person per tribe (Jonathan, Daniel, Tori) must
race into the jungle climb a net, retrieve two
paddles, come back. Next one person (Lindsay, Hai,
Drea) must run around a point to get two more
paddles. (There is a twist here, giving all three
Advantage Amulets, which they will later regret.)
Finally, the whole tribe must take the paddles, get
in their boat, paddle around a buoy, retrieve a set
of bamboo sticks, and return to shore, where one
person (Marya, Hai, Rocksroy) must tie the sticks
together to retrieve a key. First tribe to get the
key wins flint, a machete, and a cook pot. Taku has
a lead, but Rocksroy wins it for Ika.
As in Survivor 41, a boat arrives at each
camp on the morning of Day 2, with a note
instructing each to select a person for a journey.
Jenny, Drea, and Maryanne are picked, and as before,
must hike to the top of the hill, then separate to
make a decision. It's the same shipwheel, with
Protect Your Vote/Risk Your Vote options. Jenny
protects her vote, Drea and Maryanne risk theirs, so
in Ep1 (Drea) and Ep2 (Maryanne), they receive an
extra vote each at Tribal.
Lydia, Romeo sit out. Tribes must paddle a boat
out, retrieve three heavy chests of puzzle pieces,
return to shore. There, they must haul the boat
(with chests) along a wooden track to the end, where
two people (Daniel, Jenny; Maryanne, Omar; Zach,
Swati) work the old vertical circular dragon puzzle
from Cagayan. Vati (green) is first to the
puzzle, Taku (orange) close behind. Ika brings up
the rear, does their puzzle poorly, has no shot,
loses.
Mike finds Vati's Beware Idol in a tree along the
path. He opens it almost immediately, then regrets
losing his vote. In order to protect himself while
having no vote, he tells his allies, Jenny and
Daniel. Daniel asks to see the rules, at which point
Mike has trouble remembering where he re-hid it, but
eventually goes over the paperwork with Daniel.
Daniel convinces Mike not to say the phrase right
away, since he's not at risk, allegedly so as not to
reveal he has the idol to the other tribes. Daniel
later tells all to Chanelle.
Daniel sits out. Each tribe has a caller (Lydia,
Drea, Jonathan), who must direct two blindfolded
pairs to retrieve three puzzle bags from a field
filled with obstacles. Bags are found in/attached
to: 1. an overhead propeller that must be spun to
release the bag; 2. a pen filled with hay, where the
bag is tied to a post; and 3. attached to a large
spool of rope, which must be unwound. Once all three
bags are retrieved, the caller leads the pairs
(carrying the bags) back through the course, to a
puzzle table, where they direct one pair to complete
the puzzle. First two tribes to do so win immunity
and fishing gear (Ika also playing for flint), with
winner getting more extensive gear. Results: Vati
easily finishes first, despite being last to the
puzzle. The race for second is close, but Ika takes
it. Taku loses.
Because they don't have anything better to do, Taku
decides to go on an idol hunt as a tribe.
Eventually, Maryanne comes across it, as Omar
watches. Their thrills are short-lived, of course.
Romeo; Daniel, Lydia sit out. Tribes must swim out
to a ring, then dive to untie a ladder, carry it to
a post in the water, where someone must climb it to
grab a key. Then take the ladder to the beach, where
someone must climb to untie a bag of sandbags, then
land those sandbags on five platforms. Winner gets a
big Survivor took kit and large fruit basket, second
place gets smaller versions. Jonathan
single-handedly wins for Taku, carrying the ladder
by himself the whole way, landing all 5 sandbags.
The other two tribes are unable to retrieve their
keys. Probst halts the challenge, lets both tribes
skip that step. When it resumes, both tribes get to
four bags landed, but Ika takes second. Bags lander:
Jonathan - 5 (Taku 5, wins); Hai - 1 (V1, I0),
Rocksroy - 1 (V1, I1), Chanelle - 1 (V2, I1),
Rockroy - 2,3 (V2, I3), Mike - 1 (V3, I3), Mike - 2
(V4, I3), Rocksroy - 4 (V4, I4), Drea - 1 (V4, Ika 5
and 2nd place). Taku opts for fishing gear for their
reward.
IC winners Taku have to pick someone from
last-place Vati to 'send on a journey,' and they
pick Chanelle. Omar volunteers to take the second
spot. Once there, Omar and Chanelle discuss how
Chanelle can't risk losing her vote, and when they
split up, Omar opts to risk his vote, but for some
reason, so does Chanelle. So they each lose their
next vote at Tribal.
Chanelle, Rocksroy sit out. Three members of the
tribe (all but Maryanne, Daniel, Drea) will be
attached to a braided rope that's wound around
various obstacles. They must untangle the rope, then
use it to hook a sled containing four balls. Then
each member of the tribe must land one ball in a
narrow hoop. Winner receives 10 decent-sized fish.
Results: Taku takes an early lead, and land all
their balls before anyone else even has their sled.
Daniel, Romeo sit out. Two tribe members (Jonathan,
Maryanne; Hai, Mike; Swati, Tori) are tethered to a
boat carrying two other tribe members. They must tow
the boat to a tower, which the other two must climb
up, jump off, and grab one of two keys. Once the
keys are retrieved, the two must pull the boat to a
dock, where the keys unlock a fish puzzle, that two
people (Omar, Lindsay; Lydia, Chanelle; Drea, Swati)
must complete. First two tribes to finish win
immunity.
With the final pre-merge IC rapidly approaching,
Drea and Romeo set out together to search Ika camp
together. In short order, Drea finds the Ika Beware
idol, sitting on a branch in a nearby tree. She
opens it, and it becomes active the next day.
Daniel sits out. As seen in Survivor 41 Ep5 RC/IC.
Contestants must scale and cross a high net/ramp,
then one person (Tori, Chanelle, Omar) must untwist
ropes attached to a slide puzzle, releasing a key.
Then one person (Tori, Mike, Jonathan) chops through
a rope, releasing sandbags, which the tribe must
place in a box. Then one person (Drea/Rocksroy;
Mike/Chanelle; Jonathan) fires the sandbags with a
giant slingshot, trying to knock over two targets.
Targets hit: Drea-1, Rocksroy-1 (Ika wins!);
Jonathan-1; Mike-1; Jonathan-2 (Taku second). Ika
gets a giant tarp, Taku a smaller one. Ika sends
Lydia/Rocksroy on Dilemma journey.
As seen in Survivor 41. Random draw for teams:
Orange (Hai, Lydia, Jonathan, Maryanne, Tori) vs.
Blue (Omar, Mike, Chanelle, Romeo, Drea). Lindsay
and Rocksroy draw gray rocks and must sit out. Push
a giant boulder through obstacles, collect keys
(Tori, Romeo), climb a 3-level structure, complete a
logo puzzle (Maryanne, Lydia; Omar, ). Winner gets
an Applebee's feast and merge buffs, and to choose
which sit-out person gets sent to Exile.
Unsurprisingly, Jonathan helps orange win easily.
They exile Rocksroy.
Hourglass twist: as seen in Survivor 41. Rocksroy,
unsurprisingly, chooses to be safe, so Jonathan,
Hai, Tori, Lindsay, Lydia, Maryanne must compete.
Challenge is holding a rope to balance a wobbly
table, upon which contestants must build a stack of
blocks to spell IMMUNITY. First to do so wins
immunity. Hai leads at 6 blocks, drops. Jonathan
leads at 7, drops. Tori, Lindsay have 7. Tori wins.
Maryanne initially draws gray rock, Drea swaps out
for her (and gets the KIP advantage). Two teams
(Blue - Jonathan, Rocksroy, Mike, Tori, Chanelle vs,
Orange - Omar, Lindsay, Hai, Romeo, Maryanne), one
at a time, must dive off a two-story structure, move
one of five buoys along a rope, through obstacles,
to a dock. Then one person (Omar; Rocksroy/Jonathan)
must shoot the five buoys into a basket in the
water. Winner gets peanut butter and jelly
sandwiches. Results: Omar sinks 4 in a row, and his
team has the lead, but Jonathan swaps in for
Rocksroy, hits all five shots, and his team wins.
Drea picks up an advantage labeled "Beware" under
the sit-out bench at the RC. She opens it after
returning to camp, and it directs her to look under
a coconut five paces away from the well. She has to
do this before sundown, or she loses her vote. She
quickly finds the correct coconut, underneath it a
hole filled with fake blood. She dips her hand in,
pulls out the advantage - it's Knowledge is Power,
which allows her to steal one other persons's idol
or advantage at Tribal. She hastily washes the fake
blood off her hand with the well water and returns
to camp. (Tori spots some fake blood that she
missed, alas.)
Omar, Drea, Lindsay, Maryanne sit out in exchange
for rice for the tribe, as in Survivor 41. Challenge
as first seen in Game Changers. Contestants must
stand on a narrow beam, holding a buoy with two
sticks. If they fall off or drop the buoy, they're
out. Order out: 7. Hai (in seconds), 6. Rocksroy, 5.
Mike, 4. Romeo, all in <1 min. [10 min.] 3.
Chanelle, 2. Jonathan, 1. Tori wins!
Contestants divided into two teams of five prior to
challenge, with one person from each team winning
immunity, and each team attending Tribal separately
(as in Ghost Island, etc.). Blue team: Jonathan,
Tori, Drea, Lindsay, and Maryanne ; Orange team:
Mike, Rocksroy, Omar, Romeo, and Hai. Challenge (as
seen in Caramoan, etc.): Contestants must stand on a
triangular floating platform, with their toes on a
narrow beam on each side. At regular intervals, they
must move higher, making it more difficult. If they
fall off, they're out. Results (order out): B5.
Maryanne, O5. Rocksroy, O4. Omar, O3. Mike (very
quickly), B4. Drea, B3. Tori, O2. Romeo (touched),
B2. Lindsay, O1. Hai (wins immunity), and B1.
Jonathan wins immunity plus kabob reward for team.
Ep9 RC/IC: "Bermuda Triangles" - Hai,
Jonathan win.
TC8 - Rocksroy voted out (4-1), 9 left.
TC9 - Tori voted out (4-0), 8 left.
Day 18
(June 2)
Ep.10 idol: Maryanne (idol #2)
The morning after playing her idol, Maryanne
wanders off "to collect firewood." She looks up in a
tree near camp, and finds a regular, normal idol (in
the same spot Lindsay had searched and not found the
idol earlier). No Beware, no penalty, just an idol.
Which expires in three more Tribals, of course.
Starting in the water, contestants must swim/walk
to shore, cross an over/under obstacle, untie a post
with a sandbag on it, cross a seesaw with it, then
land the sandbag on another post. Winner gets an
overnight trip to the Survivor Sanctuary, with hot
pizza (and surprise videos from home). Jonathan is
first to the final tossing stage, but Lindsay, Hai,
Drea, Omar soon follow. Eventually, Lindsay wins.
(Mike, Maryanne on seesaw; Romeo not yet to it).
Lindsay selects Omar and Mike to join her on her
trip.
As first seen in Survivor: South Pacific.
Contestants must stand on a narrow beam and balance
a ball on a bow-shaped track. If they drop the ball
or fall off, they're out. At regular intervals, they
must move to a narrower part of the beam, making it
harder. Order out: 8. Mike, 7. Hai (quickly), 6.
Romeo, 5. Omar. [5 min., move to second section] 4.
Maryanne, 3. Drea. [15 min., move to third section]
2. Jonathan, 1. Lindsay wins!
As memorably seen in David vs. Goliath.
Before the challenge starts, Probst reveals the Do
or Die twist, in which the first person out of the
IC must pick one of three boxes (and find a flame
picture inside) in order to stay in the game.
Players can opt out of the challenge, and all do,
except Jonathan and Lindsay. Their showdown lasts
just over 12 minutes, as Lindsay drops, meaning
Jonathan wins immunity. (Lindsay later picks
correctly and is safe at Tribal Council.)
As (partly) seen in Island of the Idols.
Contestants start out standing inside a spool of
rope, and must move forward while spinning around to
unspool it. Then cross a net and a balance beam,
pausing to untie a set of keys (all while dizzy).
Then use the keys to unlock a set of puzzle blocks,
use them to solve a vertical puzzle (the same puzzle
from "Vertigo" in Cagayan). Winner gets
food, and to choose between "sustenance" (chicken
and veggies, with two guests) vs. "decadence"
(cookies and cake, with three guests). Results: All
eventually reach the puzzle stage (Jonathan is
first). Omar wins, chooses Romeo, Maryanne, and Mike
to join him for cookies and cake.
Contestants must race over a series of (three)
obstacles to a bridge, where they must untie three
sets of four plank puzzle pieces to build a
staircase. After climbing the staircase they must
maneuver a bag of balls and themselves up a sliding
metal peg ladder, then use the balls for a table
maze. First person to land both balls on the table
maze wins. Results: Jonathan and Lindsay are soon
tied at one ball placed each. Both have their second
ball near the hole: Jonathan drops, Lindsay wins.
All others had reached the table maze, with no balls
placed.
(As seen in Survivor 41). On the morning
of Day 24, the final five receive treemail
containing a word-scramble riddle. Contestants must
unscramble the words (tough ones, like 'eht,' 'hte'
and 'ni'), then place them in the correct order,
then follow those directions to the challenge
advantage. Lindsay is the only one who solves it,
spends "40 minutes plus" looking for it in the right
place, and eventually finds it on a rock somewhat
near the riddle's answer. It's an "advantage" in the
next challenge, which turns out not to be worth the
effort.
As seen in Cook Islands, etc. Contestants
must run to stations, untie a bag of puzzle pieces
(with 6 knots), then cross one of several difficult
bridges (plank bridge, rope bridge, slack line,
etc.) to a central net, place the bag at their
station, then head back out. Once all bags are
retrieved, they must solve a vertical, circular logo
puzzle. Lindsay's advantage means all her bags are
tied with only one knot. Results: Jonathan is first
to the puzzle, as expected. Lindsay and Mike quickly
take the lead on the puzzle, with Jonathan and
Maryanne trailing, and Romeo in dead last. In the
end, Mike beats Lindsay by one puzzle piece. Mike
also gets a pasta feast, he brings Jonathan.
As seen in Tocantins, David vs.
Goliath, etc. Put balls in a spinning track,
over and over again, at regular intervals adding
more balls. Order out: 4. Mike (1 ball), 3. Maryanne
(2 balls), 2. Jonathan (transition to 4 balls), 1.
Romeo wins!
Maryanne, Mike, and Romeo face the jury, defending
their games, as the jurors ask them questions about
their Social, Strategic, and Physical games (which
all kind of blend together). Each gives at least one
good answer about why they should win, but Maryanne
reveals her unused idol, and talks about how she had
multiple options at final five, which resulted from
her blindsiding of Omar. The jury rewards her with a
7-1-0 victory over Mike and Romeo, respectively. The
votes are revealed immediately (as in Survivor 41),
then Jeff Probst grills the finalists and jury on
site for the "Aftershow."
