Jeff Probst cast assessments
Added: September 4, 2012

Jeff ProbstFrom MSN.com's Meet the Cast gallery (by Minh Nguyen):

"Angie says: 'I know I can come off as this ditzy, blond girl. But in the end, I'll surprise you. I'm here not for The Bachelor. My natural nature is flirtatious, but I'm not looking for any hookups or anything like that.'

Jeff Probst says: 'Angie is the lamb to the slaughter. She shouldn't be here. She's too young and too naive. What I worry about her is she gets voted off early. She's going to think she did something wrong. She didn't do anything wrong: She's just not ready.'"

Angie Layton: Official Survivor: Philippines contestant

Excerpts from her CBS.com Survivor: Philippines bio page:

"Personal Claim to Fame: I’m Miss Utah Teen USA 2010 and 3rd runner-up Miss Teen USA 2010.
Hobbies: All sports, working out, scrapbooking and hanging with my peeps.
Pet Peeves: Lazy people and slow drivers.
If You Could Have 3 Things on The Island What Would They Be and Why? The only thing I would bring is my camera so I could take pictures and scrapbook my journey.
Survivor Contestant You Are Most Like: Fabio - because people underestimated him for a “dumb blonde” and he used that to his advantage. At the end, he surprised everyone. I am the same way!
Reason for Being on Survivor: I want to win, meet some hotties and prove to everyone that I can do it.
Why You Think You’ll “Survive” Survivor: Because I am mentally strong, and I have what it takes to survive the elements and challenges. I’m also loyal and easy to get along with.
Why You Think You Will Be the Sole Survivor: I know I can manipulate my way to the top! But, most importantly I am extremely competitive and am driven to succeed. I’m not afraid of anything. "

From her EW.com interview, by Dalton Ross:

"Miss Utah Teen USA 2010 was recruited for the show via Facebook and claims, 'I will win Survivor because I'm awesome.' And who's her favorite Survivor? 'Boston Rob. Just because he's awesome.' Yay, everyone's awesome!!! Angie's age and lack of experience could work against her, however. And you have to worry a bit when someone says, 'I'm not looking forward to the bugs.'"

Summary of evidence for Angie Layton being on Survivor: Philippines.

- WaterWay (3/18/12) at Survivor Sucks: "Angelia Layton
Had her video on YouTube earlier in the year. Miss Teen Utah. Went for the outdoorsy, pretty girl type. Said she will play like Fabiola because everyone would assume she was dumb. She does seem stupid.

Friends with Jodi Wincheski (casting associate) on FB. Randomly began posting about Survivor back in the fall on twitter, and on March 11 posted 'let the adventure begin' from LA, and hasn't posted since."

... "Her Facebook also has posts from family saying how much they'll miss her and to be safe/good luck."

- (5/2/12) A few days after the cast returned, Angelia made this tweet: "So glad to be home, had a great time modeling these past 2 months. Finally adjusting and getting used to reality :]"

- She's facebook friends with fellow contestant Dana Lambert, and followed on twitter by Mike Skupin.

Who is Angie Layton?

From a heartwarming testimonial to a four-day leadership camp she attended in high school, we learn that Angelia has made major achievements in her life simply by believing she could: "In Teen Leadership, I realized I am the creator of my own life. I can sit there and be unhappy like I had done my whole junior year or I could do something about it and change things and make life the way I wanted it. So that’s what I did I started setting goals. Right after TL12 it was cheer camp, and I had a huge goal that I was going to make 'All American Cheer Team.' This is a huge deal at camp and you have to be nominated on your skills first, to even try out. I was nominated and that was amazing! After that I was trying out with a bunch of other girls from the camp, and the final day they announced who had made the team and I had made it!! It was the best feeling accomplishing my goal! Because I believed in myself and I knew I could do it." She then went on to believe she could become Miss Teen Utah USA. Success!
