Excerpts from Fenella's official bio page (7/31/18):
"The last of five children, Fenella learnt early that personality is everything. A character through and through, she is going to do whatever it takes to stay in the game and show the champions that a contender can take it out.
“I’m not scared facing off against the champions, I know I can do it. I’m quite unassuming and nobody would think I’m fit but I am. Mentally, I know how to work people from years of working in retail. I know how to lie to your face thanks to going to a private girls’ school. I can manipulate from being the youngest child. I’m also fiercely competitive and stubborn. I feel like I was born to play this game!”
Fenella has been training to get as fit as she can be and has done the Oxfam 100km walk twice so is feeling ready for whatever challenges come her way. Mentally, she thinks she has what it takes but there is one thing that worries her.
“I am so white! I’ve burnt everything. When I was 13, the tops of my feet got burnt while I was away with my friend’s family so my friend’s Mum made me wear socks into the surf. At 13! Can you imagine? Just as I was noticing boys. Surf and socks and pale white, wasn’t the look I wanted to go with. So I’m going to be finding as many trees to sit under on the island as I can!”
Fighting for the win, Fenella says she wants to give back to her parents by shouting them a trip overseas, a new flute for her sister and enough for her and her husband to buy a home. But Fenella knows that winning isn’t going to be easy, especially considering some of her biggest weaknesses.
“I can’t keep secrets! I’m terrible at lying. I’m also really fiery and awkward in social scenarios if I’m nervous and I have the worst memory. So it’s not going to be an easy win but I think play hard or go home.”"
