Excerpts from Tegan's official bio page (7/31/18):
"A country girl from WA, Tegan is confident and outspoken and as she calls it, “a little rough around the edges.”
Married with two small children, Tegan has been a fan of Survivor for a long time and always wanted to apply but couldn’t find the right time to do it.
“I have been talking about applying for quite some time however we have been busy having babies so it was never right. My husband thinks applying is a great idea because he knows that I am capable of it. And I’ve had to teach him everything he knows about the bush and practical living!
“I often get told there isn’t really anyone like me. I’ve had a very unique upbringing and find that I get along with most people. I’ve had to deal with a lot of stereotyping over my life and I always try and break the mould.”
Tegan hopes her time on Survivor will be an inspiration to her children and community at large. As an Indigenous woman, she works closely with charities and took part in the Indigenous Marathon squad led by Rob De Castella. When she was selected, the longest she had run was a 3-km trial run. After taking part, she successfully completed the Boston Marathon.
“I am so proud of what I have achieved already but I want to prove to myself that I have the ability to tough it in the elements for an extended period of time. I want to see if I am actually as good at puzzles as I think I am.
“I want to win the money to set my family up long term and I want to show Australia what so many of my family members and friends know about Aboriginal Australia.”"
