Performance ranks are a quick visual measure of the contestant's season vs. historical data from all prior contestants, in three basic (scorable) categories:
1. Performance in individual challenges (MPF), as a measure of "physical game";
2. Ability to vote people out consistently (VFB%, or VFB/TCA), or "strategic game"; and
3. Ability to avoid being voted against (rVAP, or TCA-VAP) - which scales better than a percentage would - for "social/strategic game."

Excerpts from her official CBS Survivor: Kaoh Rong cast bio page (1/20/16):
" Personal Claim to Fame: My name (it means "leader of the elves") and the way I pursued my education with my own style. I convinced my advisors at Brown University to let me write a children’s book about a manatee instead of a 50-page thesis and went on to graduate with honors.
Inspiration in Life: My grandmother, Madeline. She dealt with a crazy Brooklyn Italian family and was a hard worker. She was the first Woman of the Year at the New York Daily News and never let anything get her down (she once went back to work the day after a major car accident). She also had a wacky personality -- as kids she told us she didn’t eat chicken because “their legs were too close to their butts.”
If You Could Have 3 Things on the Island What Would They Be and Why? 1. Crayons – (preferably a 64-pack with built-in sharpener) to hold an art therapy session to calm everyone down. Plus, they smell good. 2. Camera – to document the adventure. 3. Astrology books – I want to know who I’m dealing with and what motivates people.
Survivor Contestant You Are Most Like: Love child of Sophie and Cochran. Hair of Shambo.
Why You Think You’ll “Survive” Survivor: I’m a hard worker who never gives up, and I’d entertain people by pulling a Greg Buis and being a weirdo. People would think I was doing this to be funny and pass time, but I’d actually be extracting key details. After living in Salem, MA during several Halloweens, I’ve learned to embrace my quirkiness and work with outlandish personalities."
Excerpts from her official CBS Game Changers bio page:
"How have you changed since the last time you played? I’m more assertive, confident, and grounded in who I am. In my last season, I logically knew I could play and do well. This time, I believe it. I have an easier time taking stock of the cards on the table, making decisions, and rolling with the consequences.
What, if anything, do you most regret? I wish I could take back every second of every one of the five days I lived with Nick. Oh, and I regret letting Joe eat all the red meat.
How would you play differently this time? Going into Game Changers, I know I’ll have a target on my back, especially since other players will have just seen my season. I can’t play under the radar… people won’t buy it. I plan to align with a variety of people, including power players and villains to pad myself.
In Survivor 34, I will: 1. Do with certainty and apologize later.
2. Be friendly with more people and have intense relationships with less.
3. Execute with finesse."
Official CBS Edge of Extinction bio excerpts (February 1, 2019):
"Pet peeves: Revisionist history.
Three words to describe you: Intuitive, scrappy, and persistent.
What's your personal claim to fame? Neutralizing Kaôh Rōng's Super Idol.
If you could have three things on the island, what would they be and why? Astrology Book: best conversation starter ever and personality investigation ever. Headphones: 'cause it gets really annoying listening to the castaways whine about being hungry. Not a thing, but the presence of a very dear person: Tai Trang. Finder of all things edible, Survivor soulmate and Idol king.
What's your reason for being on Survivor? Primary: I love Survivor, and I don't want Game Changers to be the end of my story. Season 34 was rough from the moment Queen Sandra said, "thank you, next" to my olive branch offer. Above all, I'm addicted to challenging myself, evolving, and saying "yes" to the experience. Everything in life, good or bad, can be a gift. It's just a matter of perception."
Official CBS Survivor 50: In the Hands of the Fans cast bio excerpts, as published by Mike Bloom at Parade.com (January 28, 2026):
"Why do you want to come back for Survivor 50 and how does it feel to be chosen for this milestone season? I have loved Survivor for 25 years. As a fan, I loved the adventure and the social experiment. As a player, I have loved both those things but I could never have imagined that the experiences on island would change my life in such significant ways. The lessons, though not always easy, have shaped my adulthood. The feeling of being chosen? I’m profoundly honored, grateful, and ready to go!
What one life experience since the last time you played do you feel has prepared you for 50? I’ve had two major life events equally as transformative since the last time I played. 1: I lived at Massachusetts General Hospital with my mom, sister, and aunt for over 100 days in 2022 while my dad went through the arduous process of receiving a new heart and undergoing a heart transplant. Through 7 surgeries and countless complications, the experience showed me what true resilience is and reminded me that the impossible is possible (shoutout to the MGH cardiac ICU and entire cardiac team). 2: I met my incredible partner, Tyler, and we had a son, Odin (Odie) in 2022. Seeing his joy, curiosity and fearlessness reminds me to live in the moment. Plus, he keeps us on our toes!
Coming into this season, what is the Survivor accomplishment you are most proud of? And what are you eager to have another shot at? I’m most proud of diffusing the super idol in Kaoh Rong with Tai and going to the Final 5 in Game Changers despite having a big target. I’m eager to get a shot at working on my social game intuition and proving to myself that I have what it takes to go to the end.
What would you say is your Survivor reputation and how will you manage that perception in the game? I think there is some mystery about my game after my success in 34 and poor performance in 38 but I have always managed to get the “threat” label. I’m managing this by focusing on players as individuals, making 1:1 connections, and positioning myself as a level-headed friend and co-conspirator in a lineup of threats. I’m going to play up that I’m now a mom who has been out of the Survivor community for a little while to lessen my target.
What is your strategy going into 50? And how will it differ from previous time(s) you’ve played? I want to return to my roots: sussing out a few 1:1 relationships that will get me through the game to form a web of different kinds of allies I can get info from and cobble together the numbers when Jeff’s new era trickery strikes. That said, I want to be more graceful and have more fun than I did in Kaoh Rong – I won’t be crossing out any names this time, plus, I’m better about making decisive decisions and living with the results and adapting. I can thank starting my own marketing business for that shift from academic to entrepreneurial thinking.
Survivor fans have had the opportunity to help shape the game this season by voting on various elements – what are you hoping makes the cut and why? I am here to expect the unexpected so I’m not getting hung up hoping for anything in particular, though I’m hoping for a live finale in LA. There’s nothing like a dysfunctional family reunion after you’ve had time to replay how you’ve backstabbed one another 10,000 times over.
...
Why will you be the Sole Survivor? I will be the Sole Survivor because I am genuinely interested in other people and understanding their fears, dreams, and desires. I know that how you make people feel is more important than what you say. I’m fearless and refuse to quit. No matter what I face I know I have the fire to overcome and have nothing to lose because I already have it all at home."
