Pirate
Master episode
3 detailed Expedition spoilers/ speculation |
The
new episode brings with it exciting new developments: a boat
race to shore, a race across the land, one crew slowing the
other down by sabotage early on, and then coasting
to victory as they retrieve a soggy treasure chest. If this
sounds familiar, well, tough. (The sabotage idea was cute once,
and certainly fits the concept of piracy, but doesn't lend
much to dramatic pursuits).
This week, in a seven-on-seven matchup, the
crews seem to mix it up a bit on the way to shore. That about
covers the excitement on that leg.

From there, the race begins across
land to the treasure site. The red crew must have a lead, because
we see the black crew getting the brunt of the sabotage. Although
it looks like the two crews are relatively evenly matched up
to that point.

The bulk of the rest of the challenge
appears to be a race along a river. Further clues (naturally,
in more fake skulls) are retrieved along the way. By the
time of the shot of Christa and Azmyth, it appears the two
crews may be on different sides of the river from each other.

With a now-insurmountable
lead, the red crew apparently saunters over to the treasure,
and retrieves it. Apparently from a waterfall area? In the
shot of the treasure being dumped back aboard ship, Azmyth,
Nessa and Jay are visible in the background, confirming the
(already obvious) red victory.

Who
wins? Um, looks like the red crew does. Assuming that's actually
the end of this specific challenge, and not some other one.
Luckily, if we're wrong, nobody's watching the show anyway. So
none shall be the wiser.
