January 26, 2006: CBSNews video of
a pre-game press roundtable discussion about Danielle, led
by Jeff Probst, with Mara Reinstein (US Weekly), Paul Adler
(TV Guide channel), Shawna Malcom (TV Guide), Dalton Ross (EW),
Jarett Wieselman (In Touch). Transcript:
Jeff
Probst: Danielle's not memorable?
Dalton Ross: Well, Danielle is memorable,
and I think that it's, um, I think it's really big
of you, and Mark, and the whole Survivor team, to
allow Boston Rob to have a sex change and come back
to play for a third time. It's exciting, a reality
first.
Danielle (pre-game interview): I'm
gonna set the guys straight real fast. I mean, they're
gonna look at me and be like, 'Oh, what, what's this
girl gonna bring to the table, you know? She might
be hot, but, what's she, what's she gonna do for
us?' So, um, I'm gonna show them, and they're probably
gonna blow their socks off. They're gonna have no
idea what I'm capable of doing. Physically, mentally,
everything.
Jeff Probst: She has a big personality.
Shawna Malcom: Not with us she
didn't.
Danielle (pre-game interview): People
want to know what a Survivor carries in her bag.
Well let me tell you.
Shawna Malcom: She came in, and
was very quiet, and you kept trying to draw her
out.
Danielle (more interview): Got
the uh, the rain jacket, gotta be prepared. For
ah, for the rain. Got the old camouflage Boston
Red Sox hat. Can't go anywhere without this. Pair
of sunglasses? Gotta be prepared with the sun.
Shawna Malcom: You know, I asked
her why she thought she was chosen, and she said,
'Oh, because I have, you know, a lot of spunk.'
Danielle (still going...): Pack
of gum? Trident.
Shawna Malcom: And I thought,
well, where did it go? You know? There was just
no spark, whatsoever.
Danielle (almost done!): This
isn't for the island, this isn't for the island,
this is preparation... before the island. Cause
that's cheating and I don't cheat.
Jeff Probst: Well, we definitely
saw it in casting. She was cocky, and you know,
talked a lot about her sports background, and her
success.
Danielle (phew!): You know, I'm gonna
give it my all, give 110 percent, and put my heart
and soul into everything I can possibly, give everything
I possibly can.
Dalton Ross: Yeah, sometimes you get
people, I've noticed, that are very nervous around
the press. Especially people like this who haven't
dealt with the press, who's never dealt with the press
in their life. You know, it's possible that she gets
in a room with us, and she's never dealt with press,
and maybe she doesn't know how to react and, and what
to say, so she sort of clams up. And so then that doesn't
give us a good read on what she's really gonna be like
when she gets out there.
Jarett Wieselman: I do also think
that she was one of those people who was the most ready
just to start. Like I think at this point she just
wanted to go, and get on the island, and just get the
game started. And I think once she's there, she'll
be a fierce competitor. She's in great shape. You know,
she's played soccer competitively for years. I think
she definitely has like that Stephenie drive, to be
like the strongest woman.
Dalton Ross: She, she got a headstart
on the game, dealing with Hurricane Wilma, and living
in Fort Lauderdale. Her place was flooded and stuff.
So that's, this is maybe a little respite for her,
just getting in the game, a little bit.

January 22, 2006: Transcript of Danielle-specific
footage from the TV Guide Channel " Survivor: Panama
- Exile Island Preview" (featuring pre-game contestant
interviews and Jeff Probst comments from circa Ep1):
"Danni Boatwright: Boston-born Danielle
has something in common with previous players from her
hometown.
Danielle (pre-game interview): Bostonians,
we're a different breed of people, you know? I mean,
um, we're strong, we're tough.
Danni Boatwright: But in Survivor,
how strong is too strong?
Danielle (pre-game interview): If
somebody tries to demean me, or piss me off,
per se, I might have to bite my tongue a little
bit harder than, than usual.
Danni Boatwright: And it seems
like Danielle might already be taking her own
advice a little too seriously.
Jeff Probst: Danielle is definitely the most puzzling going into
this game, because when we put her on the show in casting, she
was full of personality. And she got out here on the beach, and
it just went [sucking sound]. Nothing, not a peep."

Danielle's bio, from the CBS Survivor:
Panama site:
Born and raised just outside of
Boston, Danielle DiLorenzo grew up the eldest of
three children in a small town called Lynnfield.
She attended the Winthrop Gymnastics Academy, Massachusetts,
where she competed for eight years and won many awards.
At Lynnfield High School, she played varsity soccer,
basketball and track. An athlete and fierce competitor,
DiLorenzo set high school state records in track
and was captain of both her track and soccer teams.
At 16, DiLorenzo was selected to represent the United
States at the World Gothia Cup and traveled to Germany,
Sweden and Austria. Additionally, she worked with
the Ford Modeling Agency, participating in fashion
shows in the Boston area.
DiLorenzo was then recruited to play Division One
soccer at Quinnipiac University, where she studied
marketing. Unfortunately, a knee injury during pre-season
kept her from playing her first year. She decided
to transfer to Northeastern University, where she
eventually earned a Bachelor of Science degree in
business with a concentration in both finance and
marketing. After graduation, DiLorenzo moved to Floridam
where she currently works for a medical sales company.
Her proudest accomplishment to date is the purchase
of her first home in Boca Raton, Florida.
DiLorenzo's regular workout routine includes kickboxing
and soccer. Her favorite hobbies include dancing
and traveling. She describes herself as driven, intelligent,
vivacious, strong-minded, athletic, genuine and good-hearted.
She never shies away from a discussion on the New
England Patriots or the Boston Red Sox. Her hero
is her grandfather, because he always enjoyed discovering
new things. He was a politician, a schoolteacher
for children with special needs, a loving father
and husband and an awesome grandfather.
Danielle DiLorenzo has been in a steady relationship
for almost two years. She currently resides in Pompano
Beach, Florida. Her birth date is June 3, 1981. |
