Hide the kids, lock up the dog, and plaster the walls with garbage bags, it's...

True Dork Times Mascot and Craven Attempt to Appeal to the Lowest Common Denominator

This month, the crap that clogs my pipes is:

Andy Serkis, no SAG nor Oscar supporting actor nomination for you!

Never mind that he put in more work for his role as Gollum in The Two Towers than the five "traditional" actors nominated did for their roles, combined. And yes, Lord knows Ed Harris and Christopher Walken are in desperate need of more work and recognition. Pompous, circle-jerking bastards.
The Rolling Stones make a guest appearance on the 14th season premiere of The Simpsons The sad thing is, the Rolling Stones weren't even remotely cool ten years ago, either, when The Simpsons was last funny.
David Pajo (ex-Slint, ex-Tortoise) is now playing guitar in Billy Corgan's new band, Zwan Maybe we can all chip in and buy him a T-shirt that says, "I was in two of the most influential indie bands of the '90s, and all I got was this lousy rhythm guitar slot in Billy Corgan's vanity project."
The unending proliferation of dull, boring, visually identical Klasky Csupo cartoons on Nickelodeon

From Rugrats to As Told By Ginger to Rocket Power to The Wild Thornberrys, good luck trying to tell one from the other without a scorecard. Is it really that difficult to draw people slightly differently in different shows? Not to mention that Rocket Power may be the lamest cartoon ever conceived. Can this really be the studio that produced The Simpsons (originally) and Duckman?

Kelly Clarkson and Justin Guarini still haven't disappeared Counting the days until they go the way of Sam Harris.
The Grammys' continuing ability to further deepen its own irrelevancy Two glaring examples:
- (1) "Best Female Pop Vocal Performance" includes Britney Spears and Pink. If filling out five slots requires you to make either of those selections, shouldn't you just dump the category? And how is Avril Lavigne both "Rock" and "Pop"?
- (2) "Best Male Rock Vocal Performance": "Slow Burn," David Bowie; "45," Elvis Costello; "The Barry Williams Show," Peter Gabriel; "Darkness, Darkness," Robert Plant. Okay, hands up everyone who knew any of these dinosaurs had an album in the last 10 years, let alone one that could reasonably be considered "rock" (not to mention worthy of praise)? At that rate, they might as well nominate Bon Jovi, just for being old and not particularly good. Oh wait, they did.

Cumulative nominations for: The White Stripes, The Hives, Jimmy Eat World and Badly Drawn Boy (all of whom at least got airplay): Zero.
Cumulative nominations for: Nickelback, Creed, Aerosmith and Bon Jovi: Too many to count.

You do the math.
