Performance ranks are a quick visual measure of the contestant's season vs. historical data from all prior contestants, in three basic (scorable) categories:
1. Performance in individual challenges (MPF), as a measure of "physical game";
2. Ability to vote people out consistently (VFB%, or VFB/TCA), or "strategic game"; and
3. Ability to avoid being voted against (rVAP, or TCA-VAP) - which scales better than a percentage would - for "social/strategic game."

Official Ten AU: Titans v Rebels bio excerpts (January 22, 2024):
"Knowing what to say, when to say and how to say it is a key skill in the game of Survivor and there might not be anyone with more experience in that than Former Diplomat, Mark.
A diplomat for over ten years, Mark has been posted overseas in places ranging from Afghanistan to Fiji to Thailand. It was his work in Bangkok that got him the most recognition, when he helped release the Australian Bahraini football player Hakeem al-Araibi.
Mark says, “Diplomacy is absolutely about working behind closed doors and influencing others which is exactly what I’ll be trying to do on Survivor. I think I might be pretty good at it.”
Admitting that leaving his wife at home will be the hardest part of coming into the game, Mark also says, “I don’t think this will be a walk in the park for me. I think Survivor is one of the greatest challenges, but I feel I have a good arsenal of tools at my disposal to make me a strong player.”"
Official Ten SurvivorAU: Redemption bio excerpts (2/20/26):
"Returning for redemption after coming agonisingly close to victory in Titans v Rebels, Mark is sharper, smarter and ready to play dirty.
“Last time I was straight-laced, I was a bit more serious. My morals took over a little bit, I didn't want to hurt people's feelings. That has gone out the window. This time around, I'm going to strike first. I'm not going to wait. I'm not going to wait to pull that trigger. I'm going to get them before they get me.”
With more than a decade under his belt in global diplomacy, Mark, 37, is now a strategic advisor for a humanitarian organisation. With experience in high-stakes high-pressure war zones and international conferences, Mark’s day-to-day job now involves building trust and influencing action – the perfect training for Survivor.
In Titans v Rebels, Mark came in third, surviving 46 days but narrowly missing out on his opportunity to pitch to the jury after failing to win the final individual immunity challenge. The challenge, where the final three stood on a wooden wheel punctuated with wooden stakes, looms large for Mark, but no longer scares him.
“I've been haunted by the ghosts of that torture wheel. It was the only thing that stood in my way between me winning. If I see that torture wheel again, I'm going to burn it to the ground.”
Supported at home by his wife, Saskia, Mark is determined to take his game one step further and claim the title of Sole Survivor.
“Survivor is in my blood. It's built into me. I have all the skills to do it. I just need a few little tweaks, be a little bit more devilish, and I can do it.”"
